More than a third of American workers say their employer requires them to be vaccinated against COVID-19, according to a new survey.

The Gallup poll, released on October 29, showed that 36% of American employees say their employer forces them to get the vaccine. The survey of 4,007 adults was conducted October 18-24 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.

That number has risen since July, when just 9% of workers said they needed to be vaccinated, and has been rising steadily throughout each of the past three months.

Still, the results show that 39% of employees, the highest percentage in the survey, say their employer “encourages them but doesn’t force them” to get the jab.

The remaining number of workers – 25% of survey respondents – say their employer has not advised a coronavirus vaccination policy. That’s a figure that has remained roughly constant since a previous Gallup poll in July.

The results show that 56% of employees support a vaccination mandate in all workplaces, with 37% opposing it.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has been working on his six-step “Exit the Pandemic” deployment plan.

The proposal says Biden is asking the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to create a rule that would require employers with 100 or more workers to require a vaccine requirement or require weekly testing for unvaccinated employees.

The president said the mandate, along with its corresponding testing requirements, would affect 80 million workers across the country. A previous Gallup poll showed that about 60% of Americans support Biden’s new plan.

Biden announced a vaccine mandate for federal government employees in July.

Some American workers would not accept an employer mandate, according to the results. Of the 30% of workers who “strongly oppose” a mandate, half said they would be “extremely likely” to seek a new job if they did not agree with their employers’ demands. in terms of vaccines. This would equate to 16% of all workers in the country.

The Gallup poll shows that about one in five American workers, or 21%, are still unvaccinated.
