About Cathy's EC Café

Purpose

This web site contains information gathered by esophageal cancer patients and non-medical caregivers. The purpose is to help others that are coping with esophageal cancer, possibly for the first time, to gain insight into this disease.

We strongly endorse the initiative of the Heath on the Net Foundation, and believe in the honest, ethical presentation of health related information.

We encourage anyone encountering incorrect or misleading information on the Café to please help us by bringing it to our attention immediately. Contact Information is at the end of this page.

You can use this information to perhaps better understand this thing called EC, BUT you should ALWAYS defer to your doctor, oncologist, surgeon or other medical professional. There are links to researched medical information. Some of it is dated. Typically published information runs 5 to 7 years behind current medical trends.

Marc and Tammy Wolfgram undertake to honor or exceed the legal requirements of medical/health information privacy that apply in the the United States of America, where this web site is located.

Funding Disclosure

Cathy's EC Café is a privately maintained site.

Marc and Tammy Wolfgram are the sole owners of the Café. Any operating costs associated with the site are funded by the Wolfgrams. Web site hosting is donated by MacCetera LLC, a Macintosh and Internet business owned by the Wolfgrams.

The EC Café has no official affiliation with any organization. References to the Association of Cancer Online Resources, Inc. (ACOR) or any of the other web sites or organizations mentioned within the Café are unremunerated.

Some costs are defrayed through the Google AdSense program, facilitated through the relatively benign Google-provided advertising links near the bottom of each page. The proceeds of this program cover only a very small portion of the costs involved in hosting and maintaining this web site.

Advertising Policy

Beyond the Google AdSense program, there is no commercial advertising on the Café. Some areas, including the Google advertisments, book reviews or external links are not intended to endorse any commercial entity, organization, company or corporation.
